The following types of crowns are available

Ceramic crown or dental bridge, fused on a metal core

Ceramic fused to metal crowns consist of a metal core on top of which ceramic porcelain is bonded. The base of the core does not contain nickel, only precious metal alloy is used (titanium, palladium, gold). (Unfortunately, nickel is still used in many Hungarian dental practices, which, apart from its excellent mechanical features, often causes allergy to the nickel.) Based on the individual features (e.g. colour of the teeth) crowns can greatly enhance the appearance of a tooth. Crowns also help with correct alignment of the mouth and help with the natural articulation and correct the harmony of the face. .

Crowns and dental bridges with no metal

These crowns are made of zirconia or pressed ceramics. Zirconia-ceramics has been developed in the last couple of years, acts as a perfect base of crown or dental bridge. They have several beneficial features comparing to the metal-ceramics.

  • it does not contain metal, does not cause metal-allergy
  • its mechanic features are far much better than metals, the crown has an aesthetic appearance and are the colour of natural tooth
  • they are biologically neutral (bioinert) and environment-friendly; their electric and heat conductivity are very poor therefore the plaque cannot stick to them
  • its transparency is excellent, just as its light-dynamics
  • when wearing crowns and dental bridges made of zirconia-ceramics, patients will not experience gingivitis and gums receding

The disadvantage is that it is more expensive than the metal cores, but is more current with today's higher standards in every respect. No metal-allergy is developed and no unsightly grey margins are visible around the bottom of the tooth.

Nowadays not just crowns contain zirconia-ceramics, but it is also used for dental implants and the head part of the implants.

A new era has begun in the history of dental practise, with the application of zirconia-ceramics.

If crowns / cups are placed onto incisors, it can happen that the crown looks artificial. The main reason is that the transparency of metal-crowns is much lower than the natural teeth. This problem can be resolved with metal-free ceramic crowns. When wearing good transparency metal-free crowns, "CERCON", will make the difference and cannot be noticed, not even from a distance of 50-100 mm-s, and not even with the expert's eyes.

Zirconia

Zirconia does not contain metal therefore the risk of allergy can be excluded. It fulfils the strictest implantology requirements, its reaction with the soft-tissue is excellent, hence the gums remain perfectly healthy and undamaged around the crowns and over-dentures.

Excellent quality, stable, full ceramics over-dentures can be made of zirconia. Due to its optical features, the difference between a zirconian crown and a real tooth cannot be noticed. Its reliability is supported by ten years of clinical researches and results, these crowns can last for decades.

Zirconia is natural-looking and has a tissue-friendly solution. It has been used for 20 years in medical science, the human body perfectly accepts it.
